Don't judge me, before you know me!

A year ago, I wrote an entry detailing the reasons why autism awareness is dear to my heart. In this entry, rather than saying much about why I care, I'd like to showcase some individuals with autism in a series of videos. In one of the videos below, a boy stated "don't judge me before you know me." That really resonated to me, and that is one of the reasons why I find ...

A month ago, I watched the live performance of Wong Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest by Kristina Wong. Although I was 30 minutes late, due to prior obligations, I was very happy I made a choice to attend. To give a synopsis of the show, Kristina used her art of drama and humor to talk about depression and suicide among Asian American women. As usual, I'm not going to get into details about the performance because I highly recommend you all to see it or ...

Hope for Autism

The month of April is Autism Awareness Month, and April 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day as declared by the United Nations General Assembly on December 18, 2007. Autism awareness is a cause that means a lot to me because I've had personal interactions with amazing people with it, and that developed my passion for its research and upkeep of the people. Personally, I call it autism, but do not like including the word "disorder...

Looking good: In and Out

Earlier today, I was on some women's health websites and these websites were pretty helpful but I just disliked the fact that some focused more on size rather than health itself. Yes, one must be conscious of the size they are but what's more important is how healthy they are and not how big or small they may be. It's one thing to trim down but something else when it comes to seeing ads such as "Lose 20 pounds in two weeks."...

Healthy and out of shape

Over the past couple of weeks, I've been working out with one of my friends and just trying to stay fit. Working-out is not something I've been into because the idea of workout just turns me off, and having to be on a machine all in the name of staying fit. The way how I have maintained being active is by dance of course, which I've always enjoyed and I would consider myself to be pretty active, always up and about; bu...

AIDS Awareness Week continues...

As the AIDS Awareness Week (sponsored the LGBTA organization) continues in my university, we've been having several means of awareness on HIV/AIDS and they've been going pretty well. Today, a good amount of students (including myself) were distributing condoms and candies in an open area on campus where students pass by a lot and also handed out flyers about AAW events. It was a success in whole and I was impressed that most...

So...October is the month of Breast Cancer Awareness and I'd like to discuss what this month is about and also why breast cancer shouldn't only be a topic in the month of October but all months. Personally, I am very conscious of breast cancer because as a woman, I am very aware of how rampant women's breast cancer is in today's society. Also, I believe that many people, women and men must be cautious...
