Today (Nov. 25, 2011) is International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

With regards to that, here's what I have to say to the world:

  • A woman should not be scared to be outspoken and concerned about consequences.
  • A woman is not her husband's proper...

Give a damn (The Sequel)

Posted by Rujizzle on November 22, 2011 at 6:30 PM Comments comments (0)

Before going to bed last night, I started reflecting on my participation in my philanthropy and involvement in the community. The question I asked myself was " will I give back or be active in the community if we lived in a utopia?" Upon asking that question, it got me thinking a lot. I started thinking of ho...

What's wong with her???

A month ago, I watched the live performance of Wong Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest by Kristina Wong. Although I was 30 minutes late, due to prior obligations, I was very happy I made a choice to attend. To give a synopsis of the show, Kristina used her art of drama and humor to talk about depression and suicide among Asian American women. As usual, I'm not going to get into details about the performance because I highly recommend you all to see it or ...

LYS not LMS

Posted by Rujizzle on October 22, 2011 at 12:55 AM Comments comments (0)

So I came across a recent trend with Facebook a couple of days ago, whereby people would say LMS (like my status) and when someone does, the status owner answers some questions about the status liker. These questions were "Name, Rate, Best Feature, TBH." Honestly, I don't know what TBH stands for, but I'll guess it meant "to be honest" according to the responses I was seeing. This trend/game was open to all Facebook friends, however, I noticed that majority of m...

Hi, I'm a keeper!

Posted by Rujizzle on August 15, 2011 at 3:50 AM Comments comments (0)

In society, I always hear people saying that "you never know how good you have it until it's gone" and for a long time I've been thinking of what that really means. Yes, it's self-explanatory but the situations that this statement applies are difficult to realize in reality. Yes, I have been in situations whereby I miss the past and wish it would've continued, but another part of me feels that if something should have lasted then it would have never gone in the ...

Purpose in life

Posted by Rujizzle on August 11, 2011 at 1:15 AM Comments comments (0)

A couple of days ago, I was having a conversation with one of my amazing friends and we were sharing stories about our lives and plans for the future; the goal of this conversation was to share with each other things that we do not know about each other. So we decided to share interesting facts with each other, and these facts were definitely interesting. In this conversation, something that I shared with my friend was that sometimes I am curious ...

So last weekend I attended a retreat for one of my university organizations, National Society of Black Engineers. The purpose of the retreat was to create an opportunity for all the executive board members for the upcoming year to get to know each other, which was absolutely great. However, I did not prepare myself at all for the part of living in a cabin built in the woods at all. This cabin is completely isolated from any city life and the closest ci...

Today is 4th of July, and this day marks the 235th Independence Day of the United States of America from the Kingdom of Great Britain. I am and will always be a proud Sierra Leonean-born woman, but I am also grateful to be an American resident. This day commemorates a great change for the U.S., and I am blessed to live in the nation. I am thankful for the service men and women of this nation in all works of life, the bright future of the infants and youth, ...

So, I attended my brother's university graduation yesterday and the event was absolutely perfect. I am so proud of my brother and I know by the grace of God, he will excel in all his future endeavors. Besides the commencement ceremony as a whole, what also struck me was a comment my uncle made. He told me that I should start a fashion line with African outfits, and this is something that I have been thinking about for the longest but made no actions towards.
